Post boxes

Post boxes in Denmark are red. You will find them outside all post offices at different locations in villages, towns and cities.

From 1 January 2012 new rules are applied to post boxes in Denmark. The post boxes must be moved to the ground floor in the apartment buildings, while post boxes in old villas, townhouses and similar are placed directly at the entrance to the properties.

Post Danmark´s Danish website has an online application that allows you to search by location for the post box nearest to your address.

There will appear an interactive map of Denmark. Click on the location where you live, which will automatically lead you to the map, showing you the nearest post houses.

Stamps

In Denmark you can buy stamps at post offices and from some newsagents and kiosks. You can also buy stamps on Post Danmark´s website.

Calculating postal prices

Post Denmark has an online calculator, which allows you to calculate the postal price of letters and parcels that you are sending within Denmark and internationally.

Postcodes in Denmark

The online postcode finder on Post Danmark´s website will help you find any postcode in Denmark, the Faeroe Islands and Greenland.

Remember to write your name on your letter box

The surname/family names of residents at an address must be on the letter box. Letters sent to a person’s address, where the person´s name is not stated on the letter box, will be returned to sender.

Moving to a new address

All municipal authorities have a registry of residents. If you move to a new address you are required to notify the municipal authorities within five days of moving. You should also notify Post Danmark to ensure that you will continue receiving mail. Post Denmark can also forward all the mail sent to your old address to your new address for up to six months.  You can obtain a “moving folder” at post offices containing all the forms you need to notify the authorities and Post Denmark about your move.
